#QOTD #73: Mondays

For as long as I can remember, I hated Mondays. It was like an “argggh, do we have to do this again”.

But then when I started understanding the power of the mind and a positive attitude, I started practicing unwiring the negative outlook Mondays.

Today’s quote was inspired by that process

Mondays aren’t meant to be blue πŸ’¨πŸ’§= ❌!

Mondays are meant to be magical πŸ§™β€β™€οΈπŸ’«βœ¨πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ and colorful 🌻🌈 and unicorny πŸ¦„ = βœ…

~ Tay Breezy

May your Monday be filled with loads of positivity and opportunity and laughter and happiness. Let us set the precedent for the days to come.

An affirmation for the ladies. Say: I am a queen

I | A M | A | Q U E E N

I don’t need anybody to tell me that because daily, I make conscious choices to try and better myself, for myself, for God and for my loved ones.

I am queen because I’ve overcome hurts and pain that was meant to break me. I turn pain into power!

I am a queen because God made me and because I know I can only do things with his will and permission and hey, I’m okay with that.

I’m a queen because when I do something I do it with love and all things positive. I don’t do it based on condition or because I have to. If it’s well within my soul, it’s the purest and most sincerest.

I am a queen because I treat people with honesty, love and respect, like the kings and queens that they are; Because what’s the use of identifying somebody as a king or queen but never treating them with the honour that they deserve…

I am a queen because I err. I am flaw-filled. But I wear those flaws confidently because we were not born to perfect, we were born to work towards being better than who we were yesterday.

I am a queen because I’m a warrior and not a worrier. Nothing can keep me down for too long. Call me my own knight in shining armor! I soldier on proudly in the constant wars that happen between self and I and those that continue around me. Forget justice, I am in the league of Hercules and Maximus Decimus Meridius

I am a queen because I choose to celebrate the best in people and not compete. Lol you can never compare me to you. Our struggles are different and therefore our battles are different.

I am a queen because I fight for what’s right, irrespective of race, colour or creed so best believe, if you coming for me, you better come correct.

I am a queen because I love to learn. I try different things to widen my perspective and self-growth and mastery is what I’m after.

And hell, I’m a queen coz I brush my hair some days and others I don’t, I listen to rap music one day and then jazz the next. I rock purple orange and green on somedays and black and grey on others.

Point is, I’m a queen in my own right and my soul is royalty! Rest assured, you and yours are too.

Love, light and supreme delight: from just an ordinary queen!

#QOTD #68: You are magic!

How many times have we wished we were other people, living in another city/ country; working our dream jobs, doing different things and being happy?

How many times have we wished a moment, opportunity or event away?

I’m not one for star signs but I’ve read a couple. Being a piscean, the stars deem us as day dreamers. We apparently live in fantasy worlds…

I can’t say that they’re entirely wrong, because I always envision myself at the end of a goal I’d wanna achieve. I think of things that have never happened that I’d like to happen and envision the beautiful and in most cases, cliched endings.

There’s nothing wrong with this provided that it doesn’t consume you and wastes times.

I’ve learnt along the way that there is no perfect life or job. You can’t choose your family and the people you work with will always be. Ive learnt that the grass is only greener on the other side because it is well maintained and not coz the weather is better or there’s something different in the water.

I’ve also learnt that there is no place like home and you literally have the choice to make the best of what you have, when you have it, wherever you have it and with whom you have it.

I came across this quote and boy did it remind me of a lot and put so much into perspective.

It says

” Bloom wherever you’re planted”

Be you wherever life takes you. Bloom and shine like the star that you are. Far too often we feel like we need to conform. Like we’re inadequate. We feel like we’re not good enough and then mimic ridiculous behavior.

It’s okay to dream, it’s okay to envision but not at the expense of you dulling your own sparkle.

It needs to stop. Now.

Be authentic, be-YOU-titul and bloom wherever you’re planted; in school, at that call centre you working at, in retail, at court, on a field, in the board room, heck just bloom.

I cannot stress the importance of learning to love yourself so that you know your capabilities, and then become comfortable enough with them.

Ya dig?

#QOTD #67: A positive attitude

And we’re back with the “Quote Of The Day” thread.

Our first of many for 2018.🍾 πŸŽ‰

You guys know that I get inspired by the littlest, most random things that I come across and when it triggers the “ah-ha” moments within, I have to share.

Over the weekend we visited my aunt in hospital. Outside of the hospital is a little garden, with a few metal boards pinned into the ground. These metal boards have random phrases on them and this post is inspired by one of them.

The phrase says:

The only disability in life is a bad attitude

-unknown

How true is this?

I can’t imagine any adversity that cannot be approached and overcome with a positive attitude.

Being positive is a choice, it’s a decision you choose to make during every experience, encounter and interaction.

So no matter what it is that you’re going through in life, stay positive for better days are always approaching.

Issa Fri-Yay! Juma Mubarak πŸ’‹

As Friday has dawned upon us, let’s give thanks for the working week that has passed. #thankyouGod

May all the challenges, trials and tribulations of the passed week, build us up; firmer and stronger for the week to come.

May all the missed opportunities become our greatest achievements and may love, light and positivity remain the goal for each passing day.

Happy Friday errrrbody and very blessed Juma mubarak to all my Muslim sisters and brothers.

#QOTD #33 – let’s be like crayons

You know, in life you’re going to be broken down. You are going to be hurt, you at some point are going to give more than you receive. You’re going to go through things that will make you question everything; faith, your purpose, people and even your own existence.

We always hear people say that it’s always for the better and that we break so that we can rebuild ourselves to something stronger, a better version of ourself they say. It may seem as though it’s a cliche’ but it’s the truth. Atleast I think it is.

I Came across a picture and it reminded me of a quote. One that I’m actually quite fond of because it suggests that you don’t have to wait to be “rebuilt” after being broken to still impact the world or those around us. It suggests that we don’t have to be in perfect condition to carry out our purposes.

It goes:

Broken crayons still colour.

~ unknown

Just like that crayon, when we’re “broken” and when things seem jaded, you have the ability to create something beautiful. You still have something to give, that colour is you(: God has an amazing way of making things work out and just because we go through certain things, doesn’t mean that our essence should change.

In most cases, it’s for us to realize just how intense our colours are, how unique and special we are. It’s Gods way of forcing us to focus on what’s important.

So even though that crayon is broken, it may not be new, fancy or even appealing to the eye…it still has the ability to carry it out it’s function; to make things beautiful with colour. It’s sole purpose is not affected by it’s break. There’s beauty in every struggle indeed.

So always remember, no matter what life throws at you, peservere and colour on. The world needs you (: The world needs more colour.

Happy humpday everybody.

Love and light always. From just an ordinary girl 🌈

Gratitude

It has been one of the toughest weeks of 2017 by far.

Staying afloat and remaining positive has never taken so much out of me. I am however, a firm believer that we all need to have some bad days to sincerely appreciate the good ones πŸ™‚

I am training myself to see the light even when I’m stuck in the middle of what seems to be a never-ending storm. As a result, there are some things that moved me this past week that I really just need to put out there and extend some gratitude for.

Many of you know that I lost my son. Each year, I am overwhelmed by the mothers day messages I receive. The kind words and reassurance that my little soldier is watching over me, always warms my heart. To each and every one of you who took the time out to send me those beautiful messages, I say Thank You and this is from the depths of my heart.

The one wish received however, really touched my heart and will forever remain embedded in my minds’ box of sentimental memories. The wish from my mentee. Many of you would also know that I mentor a beautiful 13 year old little girl at one of the kiddies homes here in Durban. This is done through an absolutely wonderful programme; The Bright Star mentorship programme. This is one of the very many programmes run by the Peace agency.

You guys should really check the programme out, you can do so by clicking here. You can also check out information on the Peace Agency and other projects linked to them by clicking here. You guys are welcome to comment or message me for more information as well πŸ™‚

I am currently in my second year of mentoring through this programme and you would have seen through  my previous posts just how amazing my mentee is. She made me the most beautiful card with the most heart warming words. God really has a constant way of showing me just how much he loves me. I really feel so privileged being apart of this little one’s life. With each weekly visit, I am constantly fulfilled. #Forevergrateful

I also need to extend my gratitude to my friends, family and significant other. Knowing just how trying this week has been, these guys are always at my side reminding me to keep going, reminding me of God, reminding me that I have been through worse. These guys are always encouraging me and boy oh boy, they never allow me to wallow. I promise you, if it was not for them, I don’t even want to think of the position I would be in and I mean really, what more could a girl possibly ask for? #Mysupportstructureisbetterthanyours

Lastly, my creator. You know how we sometimes have those silent prayers that our hearts whisper but we brush off? yeah those. God always seems to listen and let me know in his own way that he has heard. Me being able to write this post is really only by his will and permission and therefore I have to honor him. #blessedbeyondmeasure

so God, thank you for everything, thank you for my heavenly angel that is there with you, thank you for my mentee and allowing be to be apart of such a phenomenal mentorship programme, thank you for my family, friends and my special person and thank you for never giving up on me. People often ask me how do I remain so grounded and my answer was, is and  will always be: my faith and my God.

So with that done, I will encourage you to give thanks and to purposely remind yourself of all the good things you got going in your life, especially when you have 101 things to complain about. It has worked for me, I am sure it will for you too.

Love and light always,

From just an ordinary girl Xx
