” The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home”

~ Confusius ( doesn’t seem confused to me ๐Ÿ™ˆ)

I know I say this about every quote I publish, but I love this quote!

What is integrity?

To me, integrity is doing the right thing when nobody’s watching, it is doing what needs to be done based on principle and not on personal gain.

You agree? (Feel free to drop a comment and tell what it means to you.)

If we look around, how strong are our nations? I can tell you that mine is losing the trust of its people as the days go by. We’re constantly hearing of the bribery, fraud and corruption that’s going on in and with our government. The number of married people having affairs are on the rise. Kids are being kidnapped, cars are being hijacked, people are being killed for what’s rightfully theirs. Businesses are overcharging and under delivering. Service in general is just on the decrease.

If we all practice integrity and Inturn teach our young and loved ones by our actions, people would be doing the right thing always or atleast most of the time. We wouldn’t have as much of the stresses that we’re facing today and life would just have one less thing to deal with.

Whilst it would be rather utopian to think this is as simple as night and day, as we know the devil is a liar and is always lurking around,  I believe we can reduce this significantly and just like everything else, it starts with you and I.

So let’s do the right thing always, let’s do what’s fair based on principle and not on personal gain. Not only will we strengthen our nation, but God will be pleased with us as well!

Be that flower that gives it’s fragrance to even the hand that crushes it

~ Islamic proverb

We’ve all been hurt or betrayed at some point in our lives and in many cases, it’s often by those we love the most. I chose this quote because it brings through the essence of forgiveness so beautifully.

Forgiveness is not a feeling. It’s a choice we make everyday, choosing peace and making a conscious effort to let go of painful burdens and anger.

It’s a choice we make to clear our hearts of all things ill to make place for all things good; love and light.

We often read or hear folk say that forgiveness is more for us than it is for the person or people we’re forgiving and I call truth!

Here’s why:

Choosing to forgive someone is not an act of weakness, if anything, it is courage and strength personified!

We don’t forgive a person because they necessarily deserve it but rather because we deserve the peace. Let that sink in for a second.

… We know how hurtful situations can literally drain a person; mentally , physically and emotionally! But in saying that, they often force us to realize just how strong we are and I reckon peace is something we definitely deserve after such ordeals.

We should never forget that even when we’re crushed, we still have purpose, like the crushed flower that can still provide fragrance; something pleasant, something refreshing, something…delightful!
When somebody does something hurtful or bad to us, it’s a reflection of them and not of us. It’s essential for us to understand and remember this.

So I say, Be that flower, bloom beautifully, be crushed and let the world smell your scent. Then, make your come back and grow again.

Life is a journey, filled with ups and downs…let’s embrace it all and let’s choose to forgive along the way. Life is way too short to be festering feelings of anger, hurt, pain and suffering.

Make that choice (:

One of my friends and I were speaking about quotes yesterday and she reminded me of one that Is so relevant. It’s a quote that would apply to us always, irrespective of what age we are, where we’re living or what job we’re in.

One of my favourite authors once wrote:

Nothing that’s worthwhile, is ever easy.

~ Nicholas Sparks

It really is no wonder why he’s one of my favsโค๏ธ

This quote resonates so well with me. The pleasure we feel and the sense of pride we have when we achieve something that we’ve worked so hard for, can never be compared to any other victory that we may have achieved.

I think the most important part of it all is figuring out what is worthwhile and then gearing ourselves to go out and get it.

Whether it is a degree you’re working towards, a career goal you’re trying to achieve, a book you’re trying to complete, a simple weight goal or even a relationship that you’re in.. it’s important to remember, that if it’s worthwhile and if it is the real thing, it definitely is not going to be easy. Nothing that comes easy is ever worthwhile. Remember that. If it seems too good to be true, generally it is.

If it’s worthwhile, You’re gonna be forced out of your comfort zone at times, you’re going to feel like giving up at others, you’re even going to feel like pulling your hair out whilst asking why am I doing this to myself…but it’s at that very point of wanting to give up, that we should persevere. It’s at that very time, that we should take one small step after another, endure patience and just keep swimming as Dori would say!

So let’s keep on that grind because its definitely going to be worthwhile.

Baby steps. Patience and perseverance.

See you all at the finish line ๐Ÿฅ‡ We got this! ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Keeping up with the lessons learned from fairytales and gaining a better understanding as to why I’m so drawn to one particular fairytale (Cinderella) more than the rest, here’s another quote I simply adore.

The greatest risk any of us will take, is to be seen as who we are.

~ Cinderella

The greatest and most rewarding risk I say.

I truelly believe that we are only free, once we don’t allow what people think of us, affect us.

In a world that demands you to think, feel, look and act in a certain way, it’s becoming more and more difficult to see somebody stay true to who they are. And when you do, it is just simply amazing.

We all go through a phase where we lose sleep over what others may think or say about us. That phase where we will do or wear a certain thing just to fit in. If you’ve never been affected by this, lol kudos to you. But I can definitely relate.

Now though, I really couldn’t be bothered with what folk have to say because remaining true to my self and who I am will always take first presidence!

I do whatever feels good within my soul, even if it doesn’t fit the norm or standards of society. I wear whatever feels good on the day, whether it’s tracks, a tee and slops or whether it’s the prettiest dress with the cutest of sandals. I brush my hair when I feel like and then other days I don’t bother. My make up will be on fleek some days and then on others, I leave the house make-upless ( not sure if that’s a word but it’s fitting). I do what I need to do for ME and never have I been more comfortable in my own skin.
I also have been really insecure about my weight. It’s a struggle I’ve been battling out for years now. This still bothers me from time to time however, I’ve realized that if I can’t love myself the way I am now, how do I expect anybody else to love me the way that I am and so whilst losing weight to be healthier is still a thing to do, I’m learning to love myself the way that I currently am, curves, extra rolls and all!
It’s an amazing feeling, not being consumed by what other people think, say or feel when it comes to you. I reckon when and only when you’re comfortable and happy with yourself are you then able to be happy and comfortable and around and with others.

  1. Be who you are meant to be.
  2. BeYOUtiful.
  3. Be the original version of yourself and not a copy of somebody else. It’s worth loads more!

You were put on this earth for a purpose, stay true to that purpose. For there will only ever be one you!

This quote is one that I make conscious effort to live by. It’s the one quote I often use when I’m feeling down and even when I’m feeling like I’m ontop of the ๐ŸŒŽ.

It actually comes from one of my all time fav fairytales!

And it goes:

Have courage and be kind.

~ Cinderella

How beautiful. Short and sweet!

Being courageous does not mean you have to be mean, disrespectful or proud.

To have courage and also to maintain humility and kindness for me, is something so beautiful and can sometimes be so difficult to get the both right. Hence the beauty.

Once you find the balance, Only then I say, can you shout out loud: MAMA I MADE IT!

Have courage to work through the tough times and lows that life can sometimes throw and then be kind enough to share the little you have, even when being kind seems like the hardest to do. Kind enough even when you have everything that your heart desires.

I simply love it โ™ฅ๏ธ

Woman: which one are you?ย

So today, I’m sharing a quote that came to me whilst I was writing this post. I’ve been seeing the behavior of some women outchea together with doing some self reflection and that got me ๐Ÿ’ญ. So here it goes…

If you know me, you’d know that I am all about empowering people, women especially. I believe us women are Devine species, we have power. We birth nations. We subtle yet fierce. We are plan makers. We’re strong, both emotionally and physically. We endure with a smile and well the list of how awesome I think we are can go on for days.

We often are quick to call out men and deem them trash, some of whom rightly deserve such tags. But let me tell you about the two kinds of women on this earth because honestly, some of us are beneath trash!

You get the woman who knows her power, she knows that she can do what men can do, but chooses not to because she knows that her Devine purpose was not to be like men. She knows that her devine purpose is to be something more powerful; support, companionship, compassion, fierce, teachers of the home, of the nation!

What she does, she knows that nobody, not even men can do. She knows that men have a purpose and so do women and so she’s only concerned with being the best she can be in fulfilling that purpose. (I aspire to be just like this)

Then you get the woman who THINKS she knows her power and Inturn misuses it. The one who judges and looks down upon her fellow sisters, the one who is more consumed with being in competition for worldly things than actually getting her eish in order. The one who is arrogant and feels like the world owes her. The one who will encourage ruthless behavior just to prove a point to validate herself. ( I’m guilty of some of these things, I never encourage ruthless behavior and I don’t compete though!)

Women can destroy, as easily as they can build nations.

~ me

We will never be equal to men because then we’d need to be compared to them and really! There’s no comparison.
Men were put on this earth to carry out their own set of purposes; head their homes, provide for their families,  Protect their loved ones, Persue their person of honour etc. It really wouldn’t be fair to compare!

If we can just go back to the basics (of understanding men and women were put on this earth for different purposes) for a second, lots of things can be changed. It’s effects can be powerful.

If we can raise women who know their power as opposed to thinking they know their power or misusing it, things like affairs, divorces, broken homes etc. will minimize. If we go back to being okay with what our sole purpose is, and force men into fulfilling what they’ve been put on this earth to do (by not settling for less) we would not have the repercussions of kids acting out coz their fathers are nowhere to be seen. Abuse to women and children will minimize and the world will just be a more respectful place to live in.  Utopian you may say? I say say it starts with you and I.

Imagine, all this lies in the power of a woman and the choice of how she will use her God-given power.

And no honey, God will never send you somebody else’s husband. Having an affair should not give your airs and graces about yourself. You should not feel like you’ve “won” because men aren’t prizes, and your fellow women are not your enemies. Also, gaining anything in this world on anything but merit should not make you feel proud.

Always think, if what you do to others were to be done unto you, how would you feel. If it’s not good, you know what to do.

#QOTD #33 – let’s be like crayons

You know, in life you’re going to be broken down. You are going to be hurt, you at some point are going to give more than you receive. You’re going to go through things that will make you question everything; faith, your purpose, people and even your own existence.

We always hear people say that it’s always for the better and that we break so that we can rebuild ourselves to something stronger, a better version of ourself they say. It may seem as though it’s a cliche’ but it’s the truth. Atleast I think it is.

I Came across a picture and it reminded me of a quote. One that I’m actually quite fond of because it suggests that you don’t have to wait to be “rebuilt” after being broken to still impact the world or those around us. It suggests that we don’t have to be in perfect condition to carry out our purposes.

It goes:

Broken crayons still colour.

~ unknown

Just like that crayon, when we’re “broken” and when things seem jaded, you have the ability to create something beautiful. You still have something to give, that colour is you(: God has an amazing way of making things work out and just because we go through certain things, doesn’t mean that our essence should change.

In most cases, it’s for us to realize just how intense our colours are, how unique and special we are. It’s Gods way of forcing us to focus on what’s important.

So even though that crayon is broken, it may not be new, fancy or even appealing to the eye…it still has the ability to carry it out it’s function; to make things beautiful with colour. It’s sole purpose is not affected by it’s break. There’s beauty in every struggle indeed.

So always remember, no matter what life throws at you, peservere and colour on. The world needs you (: The world needs more colour.

Happy humpday everybody.

Love and light always. From just an ordinary girl ๐ŸŒˆ
