#QOTD #72: Push your passion ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Today’s quote was inspired by an opportunity that recently availed.

Amy Tangerine scripted:

Do what you love and you will inspire and awaken the hearts of others.

I really cannot stress how important and rewarding it is to do what you love; sacrifice for it, work hard at it and never ever give up on it.

We all have dreams of “making it big” and being impactful. That dream starts with doing you love; quite the cliche’, but a true one nonetheless.

You see when you have something that you love to do, it becomes a go-to place when everything else seems to be falling apart.

The opportunity-Gods almost wait for those tried and failed moments and wait to see how adamant we are…before they bless us with that big break and then the rest is history.

Most artists will tell you how difficult it was in the beginning before “their big break” or that “one-person” came along.

I was recently awarded the opportunity to write an article forย SA Bloggers

The post was well received and my oh my, did it feel good.

You’re welcome to check out the post that was featured, on basic and random cooking tips I’ve compiled by clicking Here

This was huge for me because blogging is my go to place, it’s my thing, it’s what I love and every opportunity I get to put my work out there, makes me feel like I’m honoring and am worthy of my passion especially since I’m still figuring this blogging thing out as I go along.

The post and quote is shared in hope that it will inspire at least one person to push their passion.

#QOTD #71: Consideration

My sister had this quote up a couple of days ago on her feed.

Let’s just say that I found it to be so profound that days later, I still remembered it.

I think it’s fitting to share It with you all and especially on this #chooseday morning

And our Quote of the day is:

Wash the plate not because it is dirty, not because you are told but because you love the person who will use it next.

~ Mother Teresa

I personally think that you don’t even necessarily need to love the the person who will use it next, you just have to be considerate or respect them enough to make their life or job or situation a little easier.

You can practice the essence of this quote in your every day life.

  • At home and even at work, make the lives of the cleaning staff easier; wash up after yourself, if you spill, wipe it up.
  • If you’re at the printer and you’re almost out of paper, fill the tray once you’re done.
  • If you work in an environment where you have interactions with clients that you need to log, leave clear and precise notes to make the life of the next person easier.
  • In the toilet, replenish the toilet paper if you finish it. keep the condition of the ๐Ÿšฝ and even the ๐Ÿšฟ or the ๐Ÿ›€ as how you would use it.
  • You see something in way that could cause harm, pick it up or move it away.
  • Get home early, start the cooking!

And the list really can go on.

It really is the little things that make the hugest impact.

Share this post and add ways that you can make someone’s life easier. Let consideration be the order of this week ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

May the week be filled with loads of love, happiness, peace and opportunity. Aaameen

#QOTD #69: Make every moment count

Every second that passes is time that we’re not getting back.

In one of my previous posts, I spoke about how we wish moments away. We have a bad day and we can’t wait for it to be over.

We get invited to a function that we really don’t want to attend, and then spend more time thinking about how we should have , could have, would have but didn’t and time just passes us by.

Lol, I know you know what I’m talking about.

Today’s quote was a reminder of a message our service executive shared with us a couple of weeks ago and is a popular quote by one of the world’s bests.

I came across the same message today and boom, here we are.

Don’t count the days…

Make the days count

~ Muhamed Ali

We’re all guilty of “Ag I can’t wait for Friday” but why wait till Friday to catch a break or have fun or be happy or become legendary?

Let all the days be days that we push boundaries and achieve smart goals. Let each day that passes fuel you to be and do better than the next.

If anything we should be alil afraid of Friday because it will need to supersede the days that have passed .

Being legendary means being everything and anything but mediocre.

Next time you “can’t wait for Friday” shift your mindset into gear and work on ways of making your days count.

Things that you can do:

  1. Start a gratitude challenge
  2. Set daily, smart goals and work on achieving them.
  3. Set aside time for your books if you’re studying.
  4. Pray
  5. Spread positivity
  6. Give compliments
  7. Do what makes you happy
  8. Listen to your favorite song and sing along on your way to work.
  9. Walk more
  10. Drink more water
  11. Visit your folks
  12. Read a new book
  13. Start dancing
  14. Learn a new instrument
  15. Start a blog.

Heck, the world is your oyster lol.

The things that you can do is limitless.

Remember, every second that passes is time you’re not getting back.

Live life with love, laughter, learning and leave your legacy of being legendary.

Go on, make your days count #2KGR18

#QOTD #68: You are magic!

How many times have we wished we were other people, living in another city/ country; working our dream jobs, doing different things and being happy?

How many times have we wished a moment, opportunity or event away?

I’m not one for star signs but I’ve read a couple. Being a piscean, the stars deem us as day dreamers. We apparently live in fantasy worlds…

I can’t say that they’re entirely wrong, because I always envision myself at the end of a goal I’d wanna achieve. I think of things that have never happened that I’d like to happen and envision the beautiful and in most cases, cliched endings.

There’s nothing wrong with this provided that it doesn’t consume you and wastes times.

I’ve learnt along the way that there is no perfect life or job. You can’t choose your family and the people you work with will always be. Ive learnt that the grass is only greener on the other side because it is well maintained and not coz the weather is better or there’s something different in the water.

I’ve also learnt that there is no place like home and you literally have the choice to make the best of what you have, when you have it, wherever you have it and with whom you have it.

I came across this quote and boy did it remind me of a lot and put so much into perspective.

It says

” Bloom wherever you’re planted”

Be you wherever life takes you. Bloom and shine like the star that you are. Far too often we feel like we need to conform. Like we’re inadequate. We feel like we’re not good enough and then mimic ridiculous behavior.

It’s okay to dream, it’s okay to envision but not at the expense of you dulling your own sparkle.

It needs to stop. Now.

Be authentic, be-YOU-titul and bloom wherever you’re planted; in school, at that call centre you working at, in retail, at court, on a field, in the board room, heck just bloom.

I cannot stress the importance of learning to love yourself so that you know your capabilities, and then become comfortable enough with them.

Ya dig?

Dear future husband,

I often ponder about how we would spend New Year’s Eve.

I know prayer is important; so I’d want us to spend some part of it praying for the year behind and ahead of us.

But for the rest, would we be out with friends? Or at home, having the time of our lives with a two-man party, reflecting and having a meaningful convo, then cooking up a storm to some of our favorite jams ๐ŸŽถ and then ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ•บtill we can’t anymore? Would we have our own “Idols” or “SA got talent” amongst us two ๐ŸŽค or with a couple of friends over just being cray cray.

Or would we jet set to Cape Town and parade on long street, taking in all of the people , Malay choirs and then get ready to watch the klopse over the next couple of days?

I’d imagine that anything with you by my side would be magical ๐Ÿฆ„ โœจ

Dear future husband, are you by any chance close by?

Awaiting your arrival

Your future wife ๐Ÿ’‹

#QOTD #48

I got this random message from one of my closest girlfriends the other morning and it just made me realize how important it is for one to choose the people they keep around them. This message literally brightened up my whole day.

Tonight, I got invited by another close girl friend of mine to attend a fundraiser for such an amazing organization. I’m busy working on doing some research on this phenomenal org and will definitely be sharing it with you all. The night comprised local and international acts of singing, poetry and comedy. All in the name of encouraging normal folk like you and I to get involved do our part in making our community a better place to live and grow in. But I will dedicate an entire post to giving the 411 on this amazing org.

Moving along, These two gestures from my girlfriends have inspired the quote of today:

Associate yourself with people of good quality. For it is better to be alone than in bad company

~ Booker T Washington

I absolutely agree.

You are, who you hang around with and that’s a fact.

We often hear the old folk say : if you lie with dogs, you bound to wake up with fleas. They knew what they were talking about.

I’ve got a lot of wrongs to right, but one thing I’ve always been blessed with, is my support structure. My circle of real friends has grown significantly smaller over the years, but the bond between my friends and I, has grown so much stronger.

We are each other’s strength, courage, sight, logic, comic, sister, stylist, driver, shrink, cheer leader, confidence, entertainment and even a target. The beauty lies in that even when we make each other so mad, when it comes to the wire, we don’t  have to question who will be there and who wouldn’t.

These are the people we need in our lives, the ones who we can love when they’re down and when they’re up and the ones who can love us at our worst through to us being our best.

Your friends should ultimately push you to be and do better. And I can confidently say that mine do all of the above, even when I’m stubborn as a Muel.

So on that note, let’s take some time  to reflect on the people we deem close to us. Let’s look at the character of the people we call friends pay more attention to those whom we let into our circle. It may seem trivial, but it is so important.

My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive; and to do so with some passion๐ŸŒˆ โค๏ธ, some compassion ๐Ÿค—, some humour ๐Ÿ˜ƒand some style ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’„

~ you got it, Maya Angelou

This week has been an extremely trying week. Work has been beyond overwhelming, it’s the last few days of Ramadan and my spirits have just been sweeping the floor!

Whenever I get like this, I pray and then I turn to some of my favorite authors or poets and peruse through their work. This always creates an escape for me, because I get so drawn into their work.

I came across this beautiful quote and I had to share, because as soon as I read it, my heart smiled!

THE Maya Angelou! What a creative, talented legend was she.

This quote reminded me that I shouldn’t just make it through the day, that I shouldn’t let work, or anything else, take “me” out of me, if that makes any sense lol! It reminds me that even when you feel like giving up, you should carry on, for after every rainy, gloomy day, there’s a ๐ŸŒˆthat awaits!

Isn’t this how we should approach life? Let’s think about it:

With some passion, towards the things that warm our hearts.

Compassion, towards all the wrongs and evils and struggles in this world. Supporting and elevating each other.

Humour, because we know laughter is the best medicine contrary to what professionals may think

and then style, because that defines us, it’s ours and besides, some fresh swag, kicks and make up can turn any bodies day around!

Genius I tell you! Maya Angelou was pure genius!
