South Africa’s most romantic cities

Deciding what to do for an anniversary? Looking for a romantic getaway to propose or contemplating a well-deserved “time-out” surprise with your significant other?

Do not despair! We are going to feature some of South Africa’s most romantic cities. There are amazing cities you can visit with tons of activity to bring you and yours closer.

We kick off this feature with my home town:

Durban

image1.jpeg

Known for its subtropical climate and extensive beaches; it makes for a romantic hub of note.

You will have an array of activities to keep you and yours occupied.

You can enjoy long walks on the promenade or romantic picnics at the infamous Botanic or Japanese gardens. Feel for an intimate brekkie date? You can visit one of our many unique and quaint cafés. One of my favourite joints to visit is the Antique Café’… you will not be sorry.

If you want to add a little extra sparkle to ignite tons of memories, you can enjoy a variety of Zulumoon gondola rides or sunset cruises in and around the Durban harbor.

We also have activities for the adventurers! You can experience swinging from the world’s tallest swing at the Moses Mabhida Stadium or you and yours could go cage diving with the Sharks down the KZN south coast.

You’ll be a guaranteed to enjoy a variety of cuisines including our most popular; Indian, infused with the freshest of spices to tantalise those taste buds.

Next up, we feature the city of Gold:

Johannesburg

image1 (1).jpeg

Johannesburg (Egoli) is the largest city in South Africa. Known for its historical opulence and modern flare, you can enjoy site-seeing and museum hopping in the streets of Soweto. For some grown-up fun, you and yours can play dress-up, wish upon a jackpot star and then whisk off to the Monte Casino to black jack or spin-a-wheel.

My personal favorite thing to do, because it brings out my inner-child, is to visit the Gold Reef City theme park. A reasonable entry fee allows you all-day access to some of the most exhilarating rides. If you’re like me and reside outside of Egoli, cheap flights to Johannesburg is a thing, so do not despair. Fun and memories will be guaranteed.

Last but definitely not least, the mother city:

Cape Town: The home of my heritage.

image1 (2).jpeg

Cape Town is like that humble, cool kid in school, you want to despise it, yet you can’t help but love it at the same time.

Known for its colourful demeanor, multi-culture, unique mountains and breath-taking scenery, it really is no wonder why it has gained popularity on the international and national tourism streets.

The city’s natural settings and good climate will guarantee breathtaking selfies. Walk the streets of the colourful Bo-Kaap and take in the malay culture and beautiful scenery or, hitch a cable car ride to the top of table mountain that will award you an overlooking view of the entire city. See what I mean about breath-taking selfies being guaranteed?!

If mini road trips are your thing, you can drive along Chapman’s peak and stop at Hout Bay, one of my personal favourites. You can book a Robben Island Tour or even plan a visit to the Cape point vineyard.

Still not sold?  Perhaps the fact that Cape Town is the seafood hub of South Africa and is home to the infamous Charly’s Bakery, may change your mind. It certainly adds brownie points to my list.

South Africa is a diverse, multi-cultured place and has so much to offer. These really are just some of my personal, memorable activities that you and yours can experience but assured, there is so much more that you can do. Most cities have tour, Double-Decker buses that you can hop on, to see some of the most popular tourist attractions in each city, so you’re welcome to inquire about those.

Affordable flights, the person you love and a country filled with romantic cities…what are you waiting for?

“The quality of life is based on the authencity of your connections”

~ TayBreezy

I had another thought this morning ya’all, feeling like Dr Phil up in here 🙌🏼😊🤣. ( I loved Dr Phil BTW)

On the reals though, I honestly do not believe in coincidence. I believe that everything that happens in your life is part of a plan, a plan that’s meant to grow you as a person and to build your character.

I believe that Life is full circle and that Everything we go through, every person that we meet, is a test and a lesson. How we pass those tests and learn those lessons determine how we spend the days to come.

Treat everybody you encounter with respect. It really doesn’t cost you anything to just be nice because you really don’t know when you might need that very same “irrelevant” person. God and Murphy have a way sometimes!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying be nice JUST to or in hope of getting something in return, but I am saying generally, what you put in, is what you get out.

So here’s a thought:

If we had to receive whatever we gave…. wouldn’t we make sure that we give off our best at all times? Well then touche’.

So no, we not saying be fake, if you really don’t like somebody and you’re meant to encounter them, perhaps it’s a reminder of how not to be. Just keep your distance, respectfully , and then keep moving forward.

So the next time you get a friendly smile from a stranger, return it. The next time some random person on social media needs help, offer to help if you’re able. The next time you see a wet floor at work, go around it (we see all of you who have no regard for the cleaning staff). The next time you see an elderly person standing and you’re seated, offer your seat, the next time you go to a super market, remember, the cashier did nothing to you and neither is she obliged to smile at ya, stop feeling entitled. And the next time you witness something wrong or an injustice, speak up and stand for what’s right. This is what being authentic is all about.

We need to remind ourselves of ourselves before we quick to pass judgements on to the next, because the quality of our life is based on how authentic we are with our connections.

The world needs your sparkle.

Some say chivalry isn’t dead and I believe them.

#thoughtfulthursday 🙌🏼

Cafe’ hopping: The Antique cafe’

I honestly did not know that durban has such amazing cafe’s! Life outside from under the rock is so fulfilling!

I had plans to get my electronic student card, only to be told that they only do those from Tuesday onwards…

Decided to check out another cafe that my cousin was raving about: The antique cafe.

Boy am I not sorry that I tried this place out. If you’re looking for a mello, low-key, Italian vintage kinda vibe, this is the place for you.

Also situated in the heart of durbs, this place oozes creativity. Who would ever think that mismatched things could compliment each other so well?

They have books, antiques, flowers and clothes on sale too!

The Menu prices are fair, we tried out their chai tea latte’s, toasted rye cheese and tom samies with sweet potatoe fries and then ended it off with a yummy slice of baked cheesecake. Bill including the tip was R160. 00.

It took a while for us to get served however, The owner is amazingly sweet and the hospitality thereafter was amazing. Oh! And they have free wifi too 😉 so all that made the wait worthwhile 🙂

For contact details, address and menu details click here

Make sure to pop in, I promise you will not be disappointed.

” having a true friend at work, is beyond a blessing in disguise”

~ taybreezy

Many of you know that the weeks I’ve been having are just cray!

However, I’ve been getting through each day with what I refer to as life lines;

  • Monday’s was bubblegum people and the beautiful quote by Me Mandel.
  • Yesterday was sleep
  • Today is the realization above.

I cannot fathom what my already stressful days would be like without my friends at work. The random outburst, hilarious jokes, spontaneous laughs and just the facial expressions through out the day, really help lighten the mood.

Do they change the amount of work that needs to be done No!

Do make all the injustices go away? Hell no!

But what they do is lighten the burden, soften the blows if you wish.  They literally make my heart lighter.

Thank you dearest team 🙏🏼

So, If you have some of your truest friends working with you in the same team/ department. Honour them! Because we are indeed blessed.

When women support each other, incredible things happen

~ unknown

Right? I don’t even need to dissect this any further but I’ll enhance on it.

You don’t need to stand and address an arena filled with women to encourage, inspire or support each other . You don’t have wait until you’re an Oprah or mother Theresa of a nation to start valuing and encouraging women to be the best they can be or to “lead” women away from the superficial crap we consume ourselves with.

A few girlfriends and I planned a mini road trip and one night slumber not far from home. People honestly thought that we were in some foreign place because of all of the amazing pics we posted, but those were just BTWs.

The place we visited
Brekkie @ vovo telo

The significance of the trip was to break away from reality and just to recoop. The trip was planned to act  as a reset button. Time to stop. Reflect and then start again.

Sentimental tokens from each other that we left with

Not everybody knew each other however, all were friends of mine. I suggested  these ladies because I know all of them personally and I know the journeys we’ve all travelled and the destinations we all hoping to reach. So with Des’s idea for the road trip and us all confirming, it was a recipe for success!

The weekend was beyond refreshing and went off smoothly, we all focused on the most important things; being our selves and sharing perspectives to enhance each other’s thought processes, sharing each other’s joys and then becoming more sensitive to the battles that us women face. We chilled, laughed, expressed, ate, cooked, embraced and loved! Oh and posed 😜

Because food is life
Girls just wanna have fun ♥️

I will be the first to say that I left that weekend away with loads of gratitude, a wider perspective, beautiful memories, fun photos and sisters for life…yes, we’re already planning our next one.
The most beautiful thing for me is that we’re all so similar yet so different. We don’t all belong to the same religion, don’t all have kids, husbands or boyfriends but we had such an amazing time.

Our Sunday in pics, the boys even popped in!

That’s all you need to encourage and support your fellow women; spend quality time with them for the sake of bettering yourself and them and then the rest automatically falls into place. We had no time for gossip, judgment, shade throwing, scandling , fighting or any cattish behavior.

‘Coz what’s a slumber without novelty bedroom slippers

So! Write your fellow women a note, dedicate a status or throw in a motivating hashtag to a pic. Go for a picnic, take a drive , catch a movie or even stay home and cook and for or bake. Pout. Anything! But start.

Imagine a world where our women are dedicated to building each other up as opposed to tearing each other down. It seems beautiful, amazing, strong and all things nice to me.

Capturing motion

Playing catch up is always so much of fun. I actually feel like I have a purpose lol.

Another theme of the #developingyoureye course, which I’m so behind with, was to capture motion.

So I literally struggled with this one. Then, one of my friends showed me this  Fidget spinner that apparently has everybody going cray ( haven’t heard of it before) but it’s said to help reduce stress and has all of these other exciting pros and beneficial properties.

Fidget spinner

So I saw this thing spinning and I promise you, it’s like my lightbulb just switched on and I was like ” ooh ooh ooh I need to capture this”. Obviously I got WTF stares…see what I mean when you’re brain is always looking or thinking of  ways to capture things lol 🙈

So here’s my attempt at capturing motion, tell me what you think:

I think it’s pretty cool.

Here’s to capturing more things around me!
